Why wait for a better life?
I often hear my clients commenting that “other people have much bigger problems”. In many cases, they’re right. However, knowing this doesn’t make our own problems and challenges any easier or less heavy a burden. Instead, many use it as stick to berate themselves with, or even as a reason to stall therapy.
Waiting only aggravates the situation and makes matters that much more difficult to solve.
If something feels painful for us then it’s OK to feel that way even if it ‘seems’ less than that which someone else has to put with. It’s also ok to admit that we need some help in coping. In fact, I consider it a really mature step in admitting to ourselves that we need some external support and then to go find it.
